DevelopMentor and the Advanced Concepts Center

The Advanced Concepts Center (ACC) merged with DevelopMentor in 2008 and is the basis for DevelopMentor’s expanded curriculum and services.

For 18 years the ACC has been a pioneer in software best practices. They also have a strong heritage in Object-Oriented Programming and became one of the first voting members of the Object Management Group (OMG).

Business Analysis practices have gained in popularity recently due to the trends in outsourcing offshore and compelling data on software project failures.  The ACC has been a leader in developing these practices for its clients long before the popularity kicked in and they’ve always been dedicated to the application of them exclusively to software projects.  Their leadership in this area is evidenced by the depth and breadth of their curriculum and the experience of their subject matter experts relative to competitors just entering the field.

Many companies now offer services in business analysis and project management but struggle to apply the practices to the software development lifecycle and specifically to developers. The ACC has long standing relationships with clients as the preferred partner in these practice areas.   In addition to consulting, mentoring and training, they have also set up Business Analysis Centers of Excellence and Project Management Offices for their clients.  The ACC management is also part of the leadership team with the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBATM).  And the ACC curriculum is aligned with Industry Best Practices and BABOKTM (IIBATM) and PMBOKTM (PMI). (BOK=Body of Knowledge)

DevelopMentor is a leader in its own right, having trained over 100,000 developers around the world, recognized that organizations needed better support for their teams in the areas that directly affect the software developers and ultimately their results. We feel that the thought leadership demonstrated by the ACC over many years matches that of our own contributions to the developer community and that together we can better serve our clients with getting results in building quality software.
