OAR - 1 Engagement (Objective Assessment and Recommendation – 1 step)

Does your software project have issues that must be resolved?  Is scope creep or lack of time having a negative impact?  Are communications between functional groups ineffective?  Using a new technology or methodology for the first time?  Are you bringing together disparate systems, architectures, or programming languages?  If aspects of your project are becoming less predictable we can help.

As an objective outsider, with only your success as our goal, our OAR-1 engagement process brings together all the key stakeholders involved.  Our senior consultant will engage everyone from analysts, to architects, developers and testers to surface the issues impacting the project.

An OAR-1 engagement is the most efficient way of gaining clarity about what needs to be done to improve results.  This is not a one-size-fits-all, off-the-shelf, self-assessment.  It is a one-off engagement built around you.  The engagement is generally done over the span of about 4 weeks but takes about 5 working days in total.  In the end, a clear action plan that everyone understands is presented that addresses the issues your project is experiencing and brings the project to a best practices level.

Cost is $9,995 complete.

What are the costs if changes are not made?  Is 5 days worth the investment to improve the life of the project?

How we do it:
  • Study phase conference call with key stakeholders to assess situation and advise how we can be of service.
  • Preliminary face-to-face meeting with strategic team members.  During the meeting we ask a lot of questions to gain first hand perspective from the key stakeholders about the issues.  The results help us define the next steps and time required to deliver specific recommendations.
  • Principle team meeting with larger stakeholder group – Through the eyes of the team, we identify and clarify project challenges then present industry best practices to raise awareness about how others are dealing with similar issues.
  • Offline analysis – We work offline to analyze what the team has revealed as the core issues and assess those against industry best practices to propose a solution.
  • Final solutions review with larger stakeholder group – The final step is a second face-to-face meeting to review the delta between industry best practices and what is actually happening on the project.  We’ll discuss what is required to adopt the proposed solutions and move the project to a best practices level.
What you get:
  • A truly objective view of the issues impacting your project through neutral facilitation of the issues each of your stakeholders is facing.
  • An “industry-eye” view of how your project stacks up against best practices in other organizations.
  • A clear roadmap document that maps out an action plan to bring the project back on track and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Documented risks of in-action.
  • The team will have a common understanding of the underlying issues and best practices solutions for fixing them.
